Former NBA star Tracy McGrady caught a triple-double in the last home match of Qingdao, which had already lost the chance of playoffs, but his team suffered a three-straight-loss on Tuesday.
McGrady pocketed 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, as Chris Daniels scored 31 points for Qingdao. Quincy Douby and Eddy Curry snatched 31 and 30 points respectively for Zhejiang, the visiting team.
McGrady completed a relay in the air and dunked in the sixth minute with assistance from Wang Gang, but the home team fell eight points behind in the first quarter.
Replacing McGrady in the second quarter, Chris Daniels, a former NBDL player, tried to lead the team to level the score, but Qingdao's disadvantage was extended to 17 points due to weak defense.
Daniels and Zhao Yonggang scored 12 and 15 points respectively in the third quarter, Qingdao still failed to narrow any point back.
Powered by McGrady, seven time NBA all-star, Qingdao managed to tie the game with three minutes remaining. However, Qingdao threw three times in the last 24 seconds and none of them hit, and lost the game 113-114.
"We did very well in the first three quarters, but didn't deal with the changed defense very well in the last quarter," said Yang Xuezeng, coach of Zhejiang.
"But the luck is on our side tonight, and we won." Yang said.
"It's a pity for us to loss the last home game, and we hope fans will continue supporting us in the next season," said Zhao Yonggang.
