Russian President Vladimir Putin visited on Wednesday some venues of the Winter Olympics in the southern city of Sochi to inspect the construction process, Kremlin said.

Putin inspected the "Russian Hills" ski-jumping complex, "Rosa Khutor" skiing complex, tourist complex "Mountain Carousel" for 2, 000 suites among some other sites.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, who supervises the Games, the ski-jumping complex is to be completed in July, which is two years behind the schedule.

The final cost of the project has climbed eight billion rubles (250 million U.S. dollars) instead of initially allocated 1.2 billion (37.5 million dollars), Kozak told Putin.

"The main thing is, not to let anyone steal anything," Putin noted.

Putin also visited the railway terminal on the railroad linking the Olympic cluster with the city of Sochi. The station is to be completed in April and the railroad will start operating in October.

Earlier this week, Putin ordered to hold G8 summit-2014 in Sochi following the Olympic games.

The first Winter Olympic Games held in Russia are to take place from Feb. 7-23, 2014.
