All-Star player and former scoring champion Tracy McGrady Monday announced his retirement from the National Basketball Association.
McGrady played six playoff games last season for San Antonio Spurs who lost in the NBA finals to the Miami Heat after he left Chinese Basketball Association club Qingdao Eagles in April.
The 34-year-old was a seven-time All-Star player and two-time league scoring champion.
He was the ninth overall pick in the 1997 draft out of high school. In 2001, he was named the NBA's most improved player.
McGrady averaged 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 938 career games with Toronto, Orlando, Houston, New York, Detroit, Atlanta and San Antonio.
