Bundesliga side Dortmund reacted on their injury crisis when they signed Manuel Friedrich until the end of the season, the club announced on Wednesday.

After the loss of Neven Subotic, Mats Hummels and Marcel Schmelzer to injuries, Dortmund reacted with the signing of the 34- year-old Friedrich, who was out of contract since summer 2013.

"We are reacting on our injuries in the defence. Manuel Friedrich is equipped with a lot of experience and left a good impression in training," stated Dortmund sporting director Micheal Zorc via the clubs official homepage.

The defender knows the Bundesliga as he played for Mainz, Werder Bremen and Leverkusen. He played for six years in Leverkusen to leave the club in 2013. Furthermore he scored 15 goals in 247 Bundesliga matches overall.

"I am thrilled to take the field at the Signal Iduna Park with a jersey of Borussia Dortmund. I am really looking forward to a cool time in black and yellow," the new arrival said.

Dortmund tries to compensate their loses with regards to the crucial encounters in Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League.
