Over 60 percent of tickets for the Sochi Winter Olympics has been sold, the Games's organizing committee said Wednesday.

According to the organizers, the highest demand has been for the ice hockey competitions, ski jumping, figure skating, biathlon and short track skating.

Seventy percents of all tickets for the Sochi Olympics go to the Russian market, the Sochi-2014 committee said.

Also on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin inspected the Games' venues and media accommodation complex in the mountain cluster. He gave high mark to their readiness.

On Monday, the final round of the ticket sale started in Moscow and Sochi. The tickets will be available until March 16, the final day of the Paralympic Games, on prices similar to the online prices -- from 500 rubles (about 16 US dollars) for the ice hockey group games and up to 50,000 rubles (1,600 dollars) for the opening ceremony.

Sochi Olympics are to take place from Feb. 7 to Feb. 23, 2014 with 98 medal events featured.
