Neil Robertson became the first overseas player to win snooker's 'triple crown' by beating Mark Selby 10-7 in the final of the UK Championship.

Neil Robertson recovered from a dreadful start to beat defending champion Mark Selby 10-7 in the UK Championship final.

The Australian becomes only the eighth player in snooker history to have won the World and UK Championship and Masters titles.

Selby had opened the final with a 130, having made the 100th official maximum in beating Ricky Walden 9-5 in the semi-finals on Saturday, and moved into a commanding 5-1 lead.

But world number one Robertson crucially took the last two frames of the afternoon session and back-to-back centuries brought him level at 6-6.

Two further frames followed as Robertson then led for the first time in the match, but Selby sunk a marvellous 74 to keep hope of retaining his title alive.

Robertson was 48 ahead in the next, but Selby came to the table and having gnawed away at the deficit, needed the final black to level the match, but inexplicably missed as an astonished Robertson tapped in to go one away from victory.

And he clinched the 17th with a knock of 57 to triumph, taking with him the £150,000 prize money and trophy.
