Guangzhou Evergrande's Alessandro Diamanti battles for the ball during the AFC Champions League Group G match against Yokohama F Marinos in Yokohama yesterday.

Reigning champions Guangzhou Evergrande had Alessandro Diamanti to thank once again as Marcello Lippi's side drew 1-1 with Yokohama F Marinos in Group G of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday evening.

The Italian international, who inspired a stunning fightback from two goals down against Australia's Melbourne Victory in his tournament debut, buried a superbly struck free-kick to cancel out Jin Hanato's opener.

Diamanti now has three goals in two appearances in the Asian competition, doing no harm to his chances of selection for the World Cup later this year.

However, the Chinese defending champion dropped its first points and it currently lies second in Group G on goal difference. Korean Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors are narrowly ahead following their 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory.

In Group H, A-League Premiers Western Sydney Wanderers claimed their first-ever win in the tournament as Mark Bridge's early strike secured a 1-0 win over Chinese FA Cup winners Guizhou Renhe.

South Korea's Ulsan Hyundai remained perfect and in first place after two matches with a 2-0 home win over Kawasaki Frontale of Japan.
