Pohang Steelers came back from two goals and a man down to salvage a 2-2 draw with Shandong Luneng.

Chinese side Shandong Luneng squandered an opportunity to open up a three-point lead after they allowed ten-man Pohang Steelers to battle back from two goals down for a 2-2 draw in a thrilling AFC Champions League Group E encounter at The Steelyard on Tuesday.

After just 12 minutes the Chinese Super League visitors were awarded a penalty with Shin Kwang-hoon dismissed for deliberate handball and striker Vagner Love cooly converted.

Another handball ten minutes later saw Shandong given another penalty and Love once again converted for his fourth goal of the tournament.

However, Pohang were intimidated by neither their numerical disadvantage nor the scoreline and on 32 minutes captain Kim Tae-soo halved the deficit.

And the home side continued to press after the interval and on 77 minutes Kim Seung-dae scored a deserved equaliser to leave the two sides tied at the top of Group E.
