Elkeson scored twice to lead Guangzhou past Jiangsu.

Brazilian striker Elkeson scored twice as AFC Champions League quarter-finalists Guangzhou Evergrande beat Jiangsu Sainty 3-0 on Saturday to increase their lead at the top of the Chinese Super League.

Guangzhou's cushion at the CSL summit is now seven points, however nearest rivals Beijing Guo'an do have two games in hand on Marcello Lippi's side.

Eager to bounce back from last weekend's 2-1 defeat to Changchun Yatai, Guangzhou had to wait until the 68th minute before they broke the deadlock, prolific Brazilian striker Elkeson converting a penalty to give Asia's reigning club champions the lead.

Zhao Xuri duly doubled Guangzhou's advantage after 88 minutes, before Elkeson notched his 17th league goal of the season in the dying seconds of the game.

Guangzhou will continue their latest ACL campaign when they travel to Australia to face Western Sydney Wanderers in the quarter-finals on August 20. The return leg will be played a week later.

Elsewhere in CSL on Saturday, Shanghai Shenxin were beaten 1-0 at home by fifth-placed Guizhou Renhe, while Changchun Yatai drew 1-1 with Dalian Aerbin.
