Defending champion Serena Williams reaches quarter-finals.

World No. 1 Serena Williams moved into U.S. Open last eight after an easy 6-3, 6-3 win over Kaia Kanepi on Monday.

Kanepi was 5-0 in Grand Slam fourth-round matches before Monday, but Williams was simply too strong for her.

The first set went smooth on Williams' side. She won three straight games after 3-3 to end the first set in 31 minutes. The second set kept in control of Williams breaking four times to take home the victory.

"It feels good," said Williams about her recent run.

"Obviously I don't want this to end. But I'm just happy that I' m able to be performing a little better at the end of the year."

Williams said she was happy about the travelling opportunities she got because of playing tennis.

"I probably never would have ever traveled like this," said Willliams.

"I get to go to China and Europe and Australia and all these other places. I've been to India and Africa. I probably never would have been to those places before, so it's really, really awesome."

Williams would meet 11th-seeded Flavia Pennetta in the quarterfinal. Williams was holding a 5-0 record against Penneta, including a 6-2, 6-2 victory in Cincinnati last month.
