Zhang Yining Shines as Beijing Leads Table Tennis League

World number one Zhang Yining grasped two points in a postponed round 7 clash between Beijing and Liaoning to help the capital team win 3:1 in the China Super League.

Beijing leads of the table tennis league after the match.

Chinese international player Guo Yue of Liaoning was absent from the game due to appendicitis. Her teammate, former world champion Wang Nan, lost yet again.

Wang was defeated 1:3 in the first match by Beijing's Guo Yan, also a member of the national squad. This is her fifth straight league singles loss in July.

Zhang Yining beat low-ranked Zhang Rui, who took Guo Yue's place in the second match, which was no surprise. After Liaoning scratched back a point in the doubles match, Zhang played again and swept Hou Xiaoxu by 3:0 to seal Beijing's victory.
