9 teams register for Lagos Rugby League
Adjust font size:

Nine rugby clubs have confirmed their participation in the 2008 league, scheduled for Lagos in February, a report of the News Agency of Nigeria said.

Ntiense Williams, Secretary of League Management Board, said in Lagos on Friday that the league would start on February 16.

He said the League was patterned after the International Rugby Board's seven-aside.

"The seven-aside is suitable for our players and it will also promote the game," Williams said.

The League's secretary said the competition would feature male and female senior teams, adding that the winning team would represent the country at the 2009 World Cup qualifiers in Dubai.
