China's Liu Feiliang won Thursday evening the gold medal of the men's pole vault at the China Athletics Open.

Liu cleared the height of 5.50 meters and failed three times in trying to clear 5.60 meters.

Liu said, "I've already had a plan for the Olympics, but I cannot tell you exactly what my expectations are."

Being satisfied with his performance this evening, Liu said, "The run-up and the shift of posture were both good."

Liu's teammates Yang Yansheng and Yang Quan won the silver and bronze respectively, both at 5.30 meters.
