Chinese men's Olympic football team took a 4-0 win over Malaysia in a warm-up match for the upcoming Olympic Games in Yanji, north China's Jilin Province on Sunday.

The match was the hosts' second in a four-match warm-up series.

China captain Zheng Zhi, who plays for English side Charlton Athletics, opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 38th minute after Malaysia defender Subramaniam handled the ball in the box.

Striker Gao Lin secured China a 2-0 halftime lead in the 44th minute.

China took control in the second from Juan Weiwei and Dong Fangzhuo.

"I have seen an active attitude in my players, and the result also turned out to be active," Chinese head coach Ratomir Dujkovic told a press conference through an interpreter after the match.

"A win before the Olympics is really important. It could enhance our confidence," he said.

Yet Malaysia coach B. Sathianathan believed China still needed improvement to compete for the Olympics.

"We had only five days to prepare for this game. Malaysia is kind of easy, but China needs to be better prepared to play against Australia (in the next warm-up match) and in the Olympics," he said.

China edged Vietnam 3-2 in the first warm-up match last Sunday. The other rival in the warm-up series is Serbia.
