Due to its rapid growth in the last two decades, Shanghai has become one of the world's leading cities, exerting influence over finance, commerce, fashion, and culture. It has also become a popular tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks and bustling metropolitan cityscape. In 2010, the average housing price in Shanghai was 19,168 RMB per sq m.
