Apple unveiled the device on March 2, 2011, and it hit U.S. market on March 11 at a starting price of 499 U.S. dollars, the same as the previous generation. So far, no date has been announced by the company for its debut on Chinese mainland. After it hit the US market, Apple fans on the Chinese mainland also began to move, as well as numerous scalpers. Hundreds of people were employed by scalpers to get more of the trendy gadgets in New York, as every person could only buy two iPad 2 according to Apple Inc. And crazy fans on the Chinese mainland are willing to pay almost twice the US price from the scalpers in order to get an early experience of the tablet.The iPad 2 is the second generation of the iPad, a tablet computer designed, developed and marketed by Apple Inc. It serves primarily as a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games and web content. Labeled faster, thinner and lighter than the previous generation, iPad 2 has a lithium-polymer battery that lasts up to 10 hours, a new dual core Apple A5 processor and VGA front-facing and 720p rear-facing cameras designed for FaceTime video calling.
