Top 45 int'l financial centers 2011

The trio of New York, London and Tokyo continue to be ranked as the top three most competitive financial centers in the world, according to the 2011 Xinhua-Dow Jones International Financial Centers Development Index.

The IFCD Index is a ranking of the competitiveness of 45 famous financial cities around the world based on a comprehensive evaluation system combining objective indicators and questionnaire surveys. The objective indicator system mainly measures the overall performance of these cities in such aspects as the financial market, growth and development, supporting industries, service levels and general environment.

Also in this year's top 10 list are Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Paris, Frankfurt, Sydney and Amsterdam. Among Chinese cities, Hong Kong remained in fourth place, while financial hub Shanghai moved up to sixth from eighth last year. The country's capital, Beijing, and southern economic powerhouse Shenzhen ranked 14th and 21st, respectively.
