Top 100 happiest cities in China 2011

Hangzhou, rising up from the second place, becomes the happiest city in China this year, according to the China Urban Competitiveness Ranking 2011 released by HK-based China Institute of City Competitiveness (CICC) on July 1.

Chengdu, the former No. 3, gets the second place this time. While Qingdao, the top one city on last year's list, falls to the third spot this year.

The list ranks Chinese cities for their happiness in sense of satisfaction, sense of belonging, life quality, natural environment, economy and social civilization.

Apart from the urban happiness ranking, CICC also released other Chinese city rankings based on a GN China City Competitiveness Index System, which includes hundreds of specific index covering economy, social, environment and culture.

China Institute of City Competitiveness, was founded in 1998 in Hong Kong, and began to release China City Competitiveness Rankings annually since 2002.
