It's been twenty years since Jane's Addiction first took the stage in 1991 to kick off the first Lollapalooza. The festival has its roots in the alternative music scene and also featuring heavy metal, punk rock and hip hop bands. There's also dance performances, comedy acts and craft booths. A diverse range of bands have been exposed and popularized during the festival including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction, Metallica, X Japan, Lady Gaga and Green Day. The festival toured the US from 1991-1997 and in 2003, eventually settling in Chicago permanently in 2005.
