What the mid-market Accord lacks in sticker price it makes up in volume. Relatively low manufacturing costs help, too, according to Bernstein Research.
Despite the larger profit number, Bernstein ranks the Accord behind the Grand Cherokee because the Accord generated its profit over three generations rather than, until very recently, one for the Grand Cherokee.
A spokesman for Honda said the automaker would not comment on the profitability of any given model.
