Many parts of China have been experiencing long-lasting scorching hot weather since July, with temperatures soaring over 35°C (95°F). Especially the southern China cities in Zhejiang, Hunan, Jiangsu and Fujian provinces are suffering from the heat.

Nevertheless, Chongqing challenges Changsha's pole position as the city is being hit by excruciating temperatures for a total of 38 days -- keeping this year's record-high of 40.9°C (105.62°F) on July 15.

Hangzhou of Zhejiang Province ranks third as the heat wave continues though temperatures did cool down a little after a few days of rain.
