The latest ranking of the world's top 50 best student cities has been released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a leading global career and education network.

Paris of France, the romantic capital of the world, is also the best place in the world for students to pursue their academic ambitions. London and Singapore rank second and third respectively.

Boston of the U.S., home to a number of famous universities including Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, dropped from last year’s third place to this year’s eighth.

China’s Beijing and New Zealand’s Auckland tied for the 18th place. Yet another three Chinese cities -- Hong Kong, Taipei and Shanghai -- rank No. 7, No. 28 and No. 35 respectively.

There are two pre-requisites for the cities’ evaluation: Each city must have a population of over 250,000; it must be home to at least two QS ranked institutions. Only 98 cities in the world meet these terms.

14 indicators across five equally weighted categories were taken as the criteria, including top universities, student mix, quality of life, employment prospects and affordability. The public information, surveys and data submitted to the QS World University Rankings were all used.

The following are the top 10 student cities in the world.
