Located in the southwest, Kaohsiung is Taiwan's largest harbour and its second largest city. Kaohsiung was established in the early 19th century, but it has fast developed over the past century. With its multicultural atmosphere, Kaohsiung epitomizes modern Taiwan.

I recently spent three days in Kaohsiung, which gave me fairly ample time to explore its wonders. Here let me share with you my first day in the city.

My journey to Kaohsiung was fascinating right from the very start. While on the train an elderly Taiwanese aboriginal woman started chatting with me about the city.
