Festival events

Fa Yuan Temple is famous for its seasonal lilac and crab apple blossoms. These have been celebrated during the Hua Shi event since the festival's reestablishment in 2002. At the beginning of April each year, poets, writers, calligraphers and painters gather at the temple to show off their specialties while enjoying the fragrant smell of the flowers in these ancient surroundings. This is also the anniversary of the birth of Sakyamuni, so visitors come to burn joss sticks for good fortune in the following year.

Getting there: Take Subway Line 5 to Cai Shi Kou station, or take bus No. 5, 6, 48, 57, 109, 381, 613 or 715.
