Fuzhou launches third route to Taiwan

TransAsia Airways recently launched a direct air route from Fuzhou to Kaohsiung.

There are two flights each week. The flights from Kaohsiung to Fuzhou departs at 07:00 and arrives at 08:50, flights from Fuzhou to Kaohsiung leave at 09:50 and arrive at 11:40.

This is the third direct air route opened between Fuzhou and Taiwan in 2010. The first two were launched in February and March 2010. Now Fuzhou has four routes with a total of 24 flights each week to Taipei (Taoyuan and Songshan), Kaohsiung, and Taichung.

Wang Zhiping, the general manager of TransAsia Airways Shanghai Office, said the load factors of Fujian to Taiwan routes have reached around 90%, and business travelers and travelers for social visits accounted for 70%. The airline is considering increasing the number of flights between Fujian and Taiwan in June 2010.

It is reported that the number of flights each week between Taiwan and the mainland has increased to 270 since scheduled flights to Taiwan were first launched on August 31, 2009.
