Death Valley lies in the Mojave Desert and contains the lowest elevation in North America. It boasts a varied geology, such as dunes, salt flats and canyons.

In 1913, the temperature of Death Valley even reached record 57 degrees centigrade -- highest ever recorded in the U.S, which was only just a couple of degrees lower than the world record in Libya.
