China welcomes foreigners from all walks of life to visit Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) in southwest of China, said Qin Gang, spokesman of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tuesday.

"A permit for traveling in Tibet is necessary for foreigners including journalists since our reception capacity of tourists is limited at present," said Qin Gang in his comments on the issue about foreign journalists' reporting on Tibet at a regular news briefing.

According to Qin Gang, foreign journalists take great interest in participating in the activity of reporting in Tibet organized by the News Department of MFA.

"Due to our limited reception capacity, only a part of the applicants can get approved," Qin added.

"We highly appreciate the understanding and cooperation of those journalists who have not received permits," Qin added .

"Tibet has received many foreigners in recent years. We believe, with our increased capacity of tourist reception as well as the rapid development of the region, more foreigners will get opportunities to visit Tibet," said Qin.
