Travel tips:

Food: Yogurt is one thing that you must taste when in Qinghai, costing you as little as 2 Yuan. Specially made from yak's milk, the yogurt in Qinghai has a unique texture, fresh and smooth. Qingke Liquor, milk tea and other Muslim foods are also highly recommended.

Transportation: Coaches to Lhasa depart from Sining and Golmud several times a day and will stop by Caka Salt Lake and Qinghai Lake. If you wish to stay a few more days around Qinghai Lake, you can hire a car in Xining which will cost you roughly 400 Yuan.

Tickets: An entrance ticket for Qinghai Lake costs 50 Yuan, while the entrance ticket for Riyue Mountain costs 15 Yuan. Boat fare is 15 Yuan.

Accommodation: For budget travelers, the cost for accommodation at the camping ground is negligible. However, the downside for cheap accommodation is the shabby room condition. Qinghai Lake Hotel is highly recommended if you have spare money. One room in this three-star hotel costs some 300 Yuan per night.

Shopping: Open markets in Qinghai have every souvenir you could wish to buy, from colorful rocks produced from the Kunlun Mountain to local handmade articles.
