Lufthansa flys A380 on Beijing-Frankfurt route

An Airbus A380 belonging to German flag carrier Lufthansa recently landed at Beijing Capital International Airport for the first time.

Lufthansa is the first European carrier to operate the Airbus A380 — the largest passenger aircraft in the world — Dubai-based Emirates Airlines which also launched services operated with A380s to Beijing.

The A380 aircraft will be fly the Beijing to Frankfurt route regularly. In September and October, 2010, the flight will be operated with A30s once a week. The flight frequency will be increased to daily from November 1, 2010.

This is the German carrier's third destination for A380 aircraft. The other two destinations are Tokyo and Johannesburg.

In 2009 BCIA become the busiest airport in Asia in terms of passenger traffic and total traffic movements, and it is also the third busiest airport in the world with 65.33 million passengers passing through the airport in 2009.
