If you're in Beijing while you're reading this, you probably wish you had taken the weekend for a vacation. If you're looking for a way to get away from it all, trailer parks are the "trendy new option" for spending leisure time, at least, so say the operators of the Taohua Shenchu Car-camping site that opened in Pinggu district in early August.

Taohua Shenchu means "at the very far end of peach blossom forest," a poetic name meant to evoke the beautiful countryside scenery of Dabeizhuang village, Shandongzhuang county, where the "five-star" campsite is located.

Taohua Shenchu features European-style sleeping cabins and themed "activity salons." If the vaguely named activity salon doesn't thrill you, there are also facilities for playing tennis or basketball, roads for cycling, and plenty of restaurants. There are also farmyards where you can live out your bucolic fantasies by picking your own fruits and vegetables. For a lazier time, you can just chill out by the river with some rented fishing equipment.

"I am glad to hear the news of this new car campsite's opening. I do not own a motor home, but depiction of such a cool vehicle in western movies has long been haunting me, wishing I myself could drive and live in such a thing one day," said 28-year-old Chang Yanlu, who seems pretty passionate about outdoor activities. "I love traveling, especially outdoor recreational stuff, I like driving to tour different natural places, breathe the fresh air, and get refreshed. I may visit the place during the three-day Mid-Autumn holiday."

Occupying a vast land of 90,000 square meters in total, Taohua Shenchu is generally divided into five sections. There are three sections for people to sleep in motor homes, tents and cabins, then two sections dedicated to barbeque and recreational fitness. The motor-home section can accommodate 30 car trailers and motor homes that are equipped with water and electricity. The tent area has 50 tent sites, and so far there are six wood cabins, with 30 more set to be built in the future, according to Song Jun, of the Beijing Tourism Bureau.

The barbecue area has grills and picnic tables and chairs, while the recreational fitness area has everything else, including the gym, café, grocery store, drive-in movie theater, tennis and basketball courts, gardens and the fishing facilities.

"The motor home traveling industry was just taking up in China, lagging far behind the West, Japan and South Korea," said Song in a spiel to Lifestyle. "To build a more valuable industry chain, inclusive of motor home traveling, travel agents, hotel, motor home clubs, car renting companies, motor home camping, we will give more support in the development of this new trend of travel to provide Beijingers a floating bucolic hotel in a cozy and homey atmosphere."
