Starting today, September 27, and running through October 6, the Sinology Cultural Festival will be held at the Beijing Confucius Temple and its neighboring Imperial Academy to commemorate the 2,561st anniversary of the birth of Confucius, as well as to "advocate the traditional culture of China."

One of the key events at the festival will be the so-called "union ceremony" by teachers and students from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. It is considered one of the many ways to boost "bilateral interaction and cooperation."

Additionally, as part of the festival 120 classical paintings and works of calligraphy about Confucian culture will be exhibited at the Hall of Art inside the Imperial Academy. There will also be an exhibition of up to 20 types of intangible heritage from Dongcheng district - including paintings, local ivory and jade sculptures, and colored clay figures - displayed in front of the Pi Yong palace hall. Meanwhile, local snacks from the Beijing Bian Yi Fang restaurants are ready to satisfy your stomach while your eyes are occupied with other things.

If you are a Confucius fan or just want to see the temple, bear in mind that although you can visit the art exhibition any time before October 6, the cultural activities that make up the most eye-catching part will occur for the most part on September 27 and 28.
