Brief introduction

Pingyao still retains its city layout from the Ming and Qing dynasties, conforming to a typical Bagua pattern. This is a "must see" for those who are really "into" Chinese history choice. Attractions include Pingyao Ancient City, Qiao Family's Compound, Shuanglin Temple.

Today’s activities start from Pingyao Ancient Town which locates in the middle of Shanxi Province; this is the best-preserved of the four ancient towns in China. Inside the intact Ming Dynasty city wall this traditional town, whose buildings date from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, is exceptionally well-preserved, and just as it was centuries ago.

We go to visit Qiao Family Mansion located in Qiaojiabao Village in the afternoon, about 30 kilometers away from Pingyao in Shanxi Province of northern China, was built during the reign of Qianlong Emperor (1711 – 1799) of the Qing Dynasty. The mansion had been the residence of famous Qing's financier and businessman Qiao Zhiyong. It is famed for being the setting of the Chinese film, Raise the Red Lantern, in which movie star Gong Li has played the leading role.

Shuanglin Temple has more than 2000 colorful sculptures reflecting the exquisite skills of the artisans of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. After finish the tour, you will be drop
