In a move to expand its presence in the overseas market Chinese low-cost airline Spring Airlines has launched its first flight on the Shanghai to Hong Kong route.

The Shanghai to Hong Kong route is operated using 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft on a daily basis. It is the carrier's second foreign service after the launch of its Shanghai to Ibaraki route in July 2010.

The Shanghai-based budget carrier is offering fares which are cheaper than those offered by competitors such as Cathay Pacific and Shanghai Airlines. And Passenger load factors were 98% on the first day's flights.
