Rome's authorities launch manual on 'sustainable globetrotting' tourism

Rome's local authorities on Friday presented a useful tourist guidebook on "sustainable globetrotting" aimed at spreading awareness on locations in developing countries with handy tips to travelers.

The goal of the manual is to support the growth of the visited developing countries by contributing to increase Italian incoming tourists attracted by the specialties of the regions.

The handbook provides a useful guide for locating zero-food miles restaurants and environment-friendly resorts by spreading awareness among tourists on how their journey across the developing countries may contribute to the reduction of poverty, hunger and diseases.

The aim is to give information and make each potential traveler a sustainable globetrotter across the five continents who will respect the local population and natural beauties. All sorts of tips are given, from where to find hospitals to cultural tours and food safety information.

Rome's City Hall is working hard on boosting tourist information, both for outbound and incoming travelers.

Among the other various initiatives it has launched are "Rome Mobile Guide," the capital's first 3D multilingual map navigator available free on mobiles and smart-phones highlighting the most attractive monuments, districts, tours, restaurants and shops.
