In the Sanjie village of Jiangjin District in Chongqing municipality is located the first civil aeromodelling airport of West China.

The airport is equipped with almost all facilities needed for a regular airport, including a runway, ground service station and a parking apron. The airport covers an area of 33 mu, having separate zones for parking, operating model planes, repair and battery charging, and other services.

The owner and model airplane enthusiast, Zhao Zhongqiang, fell in love with the sport after watching a model airplane show last year. The teahouse owner, who runs his business in downtown Chongqing, said the sport relieves him from work pressure and brings friend of same enthusiasm.

The airport is open to tourists for free except when flying tests or competitions are held. Zhao said he hopes the airport can become a training center for aeromodelling enthusiasts and children.

On Sunday (27) the airport will welcome a model show, during which professionals will promote the sport by introducing their knowledge and by offering trial-operation for the novices.

Transportation:

Leave the Chengyu Highway at Zouma Tollgate, and follow the road-signs or guides. Tourists can park the car within the airport or vicinity.
