Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways recently said it had received approval from the Hong Kong government to raise fuel surcharges on passenger fares by 10% to 15% in March as a result of higher global oil prices.

From March 1, the fuel surcharge for short-haul flights operated by Cathay Pacific will rise by 15% from the current HKD143 per journey to HKD165 per journey, and the surcharge for its long-haul flights will rise by 10% to HKD747 from HKD677.

Fuel surcharges for flights between Hong Kong and mainland China will be increased from UDS18.30 to USD21.20.
