A celebration in honor of this year's International Museum Day was held Wednesday at Beijing's Capital Museum.

International Museum Day was initiated by the International Council of Museums in 1977 to raise world awareness of museums and advance museum management in different countries. The theme of this year's day is "Museums and Memory."

The celebration at the Capital Museum also features a public selection of favorite museum exhibitions and an exhibition on the development history of Beijing's museums.
