On the north banks of the Himalayas, Yamdok Tso Lake is one of three holy lakes in China's Tibet Autonomous Region. Shaped like an unfolding traditional Chinese paper fan, the lake reaches deep into the soaring mountains. Because of the environmental protection measures taken by locals, the water quality of Yamdok Tso Lake is improving gradually, creating a mesmerizing scene as shown in these photos released on May 9, 2011.
