A report on Chinese urban life shows that Beijing residents find their lives in the nation's capital to be unsatisfactory, despite its rapid economic growth and the government's work to make the city more accommodating.
The first China City Life Quality Index report was issued over the weekend by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Capital University of Economics and Business.
Beijing ranks eighth among the country's 30 provincial and regional capitals. At the top of the list are Guangzhou and Shanghai.
The cities' quality of life was calculated by taking into account their incomes per capita, inflation rates, green areas and other objective signs.
