The Eighth China International Food and Tourism Festival will open on September 28 in Chengdu of Sichuan Province, which is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.

With the theme "Chinese Cuisine, the World's Feast," the event invites visitors from home and abroad to sample Chengdu's numerous delicacies.

The main venue for this year's gourmet festival is the Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Exposition Park, which also will host a retrospective exhibition of Sichuan cuisine, a product exhibition on the domestic food industry and a market with vendors from Asian and European countries, selling international food. A parade will be held each day of the festival, and visitors can participate in various competitions and games.

In conjunction with the festival, event organizers have created a number of tour routes featuring food treats. Local restaurants and hotels will offer discounts during the festival.

The China International Food and Tourism Festival was first held in 2003. This year's festival will run until October 8.
