Forty-five tourists who became stranded by floods after tropical storms hit south China's Hainan Province were rescued by noon Thursday, local authorities said.

The tourists were all in "good condition" and were sent to the seat of Baisha Li Autonomous County, said Chen Hongliang, vice head of the county.

The tourists traveled by car to the mountains of Baisha on Tuesday, becoming trapped after typhoons Nalgae and Nesat triggered floods that cut off the roads they traveled on. One of the tourists managed to get ahold of local authorities using a satellite phone.

A tourist surnamed Li said the typhoons caused them to take a wrong turn and left them stranded.
