China recently established the Traditional Chinese Cultural Assistance Fund in Beijing, which is aimed at "researching, protecting, inheriting and promoting" the traditional Chinese culture.

The fund is established by the China Social Assistance Foundation to financially help the reconstruction and development of endangered traditional Chinese cultural items and carry out public service activities, such as the tour exhibition, charity sale and auction for the cultural heritage inheritors and their artworks and products that have high development values and are badly in need of assistances. The fund will raise funds in various ways to rescue them timely.

Meanwhile, the fund is also aimed at rescuing the endangered intangible cultural heritages, especially traditional handicrafts and rare operas in China's poverty-stricken regions and ethnic minority areas, improving old artists' living conditions and promoting the development of the crafts.

The first batch of the projects will be carried out in Yunnan, Guizhou and other provinces in China's western areas.
