Located in Ningcheng County of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Zhongjing (辽中京遗址) was one of the five capitals of the Liao Dynasty (916AD-1125AD). Zhongjing was built from the 21st year (1003AD) to the 25th year of the Tonghe reign. The city had a Dadingfu (a government office), where Liao emperors received envoys from the Song Dynasty (960AD-1279AD).

The city's construction imitated Bianjing of the Northern Song Dynasty (960AD-1127AD), featuring a three ring construction, namely the outer city, the inner city and the imperial palace. To the north of the outer city were temples and official bureaus. The palace was built in the center of the northern section of the inner city.
