Dujiangyan holds traditional ceremony in honor of Confucius

Dujiangyan temple in Chengdu, Sichuan province held a traditional ceremony in honor of Confucius on Sept 3.

A traditional ceremony in honor of Confucius was held at a Confucian temple in Dujiangyan, Chengdu, on Sept 3.

The ceremony began with 108 traditional drumbeats. Performances of ancient music, dance, oration and rituals were held in strict accordance with Confucian culture.

Scholars from Qufu, the Confucius' hometown in Shandong province, as well as hundreds of students, tourists and local citizens attended the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the temple unveiled a miniature architectural model of Dacheng Hall, the main building in the temple, characterized by south-Sichuan style. The model was made to promote the ancient building in Sichuan.
