The Hurun Research Institute has released the latest list of the richest self-made women in the world, the sixth edition of the kind.
It finds 73 self-made women billionaires, remarkably, 49 of them from China.
The 45-year-old "Touchscreen Queen" Zhou Qunfei, chairperson of Lens Technology, takes the crown with US$7.8 billion. Beijing's real estate tycoon Chen Lihua comes second with US$7.7 billion. Wu Yajun, chairwoman of Longfor Properties ranks third with US$4.2 billion.
Eight of the top 10 richest self-made women in the world are from China.
