China will get its fifth Madame Tussauds wax museum when a new one opens in the southwestern municipality of Chongqing this summer, local authorities announced on Tuesday.

Wax effigies of Prince William, and his wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge have been displayed since last week in the city as a promotion for the upcoming museum.

It will have sections devoted to Hollywood stars, sportsmen and women and celebrities from around the world, the Chongqing government said.

The museum is being built by Britain's Merlin Entertainment Group, which also plans to open an aquarium and a Lego adventure park in the city.

With a history of over 200 years, Madame Tussauds has already opened in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Wuhan, with statues of celebrities including Jackie Chan, Yao Ming, Bill Gates and David Beckham.
