The China Golden Horse Awards was initiated, created and launched by Liu Yi, the former head of the China National Tourism Administration. It is one of the top honors for the catering, accommodation and tourism industries in China and around the world. 

After 20 years of development and promotion, the award now enjoys great popularity, reputation and influence in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world. It has been hailed by the media as the "Oscars" of China's great cultural tourism industry, and its winners are recognized as benchmarks for the industry.

In addition to the China Golden Horse Awards, the 20th China Cultural Tourism Global Forum was also held on June 18-19. The main venue of the conference was the Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou, while livebroadcast rooms were set up at the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel, the Le Royal Meridien Shanghai and the Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai. The livebroadcast rooms allowed for a synchronous, worldwide live broadcast.
