Since 1999, the Information office of the State Council of China has organized a series of cultural events in several countries, including Germany, France, Switzerland, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, South Korea, South Africa and Israel. Named "Experience China," the events have been well received by overseas governments, news media and the general public. They have become an established part of China’s cultural exchange program and provide a way for foreign audiences to understand and experience China in their own countries.

The event, "Experience China in Turkey" covers political and economic forums, folk singing and dancing, a film and TV program week, a Chinese cuisine festival, book donation activities, exchange visits of reporters from both countries as well as exchange activities of writers. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 17 with grand performances of Chinese folk singing and dancing. Activities will be held in Ankara, Istanbul, and Kayseri.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture of China, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of China, the Chinese Writers Association, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Turkey, the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Istanbul, and Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey.
