Also known as Spring Festival, Chinese New Year falls on the first day of the first month. Of China’s lunar calendar, which can be anywhere between late January and early February. Families get together to eat lavish dinners, exchange money in small red envelopes and let off firecrackers, which mercilessly resound around the city for over a week. Many people visit temple fairs during this period.
