Singapore president to visit China

Singapore President S R Nathan will make a working visit to China from Aug. 16 to 23, the country 's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday.

Nathan will visit Beijing from Aug. 16 to 20 and Shanghai from Aug. 20 to 23, the ministry said in a statement.

While in Beijing, Nathan will meet Chinese President Hu Jintao and other senior officials, including Jia Qinglin, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Li Lanqing, former Chinese Vice-Premier, and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.

In Shanghai, Nathan will visit the World Expo in support of the Singapore Pavilion and meet Shanghai Party Secretary Yu Zhengsheng.
